I learned a hard lesson recently.
Yesterday, I went on Amazon to do some keyword research for my new book, Virtual Summit Secrets.
Previously there were only a few books available on virtual summits and none were called Virtual Summit Secrets.
After doing the search, I discovered five books and one checklist with the Virtual Summit Secrets title.
All were listed under several author names and one publishing company and they had the same low quality and quite frankly, ugly cover (4 of the 6 had the same cover) that looks like it was created in about five minutes.
I looked at the interior of the books and noticed a lot of my content was included with the disclaimer that I put at the front of all of my books and included many of the concepts that were covered in my book.
The books were published in May and June.
They were published soon after I gave away my new book as part of the free registration for our Get Published Virtual Summit.
Was I mad? A little to he honest, but I also saw the low quality of the cover, formatting, editing and realized it was just a title.
Will I send a cease and desist letter? No!
Was I tempted? Absolutely!
I wanted to share this story as one of the questions I receive often is what to do if someone steals content from your book.
My answer is that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
The authors who put out that content also have never held their own virtual summit so I decided it was a moot point.
If something like this has happened to you then please let me know as this will be an area that I keep a much closer eye on going forward.
